Control Room Operator

Job Summary 

The Control Room Operator is responsible for the remote operation of all terminal equipment needed for the receipt, storage and loading of bulk petroleum products and other related processes. Control Room Operator shall act as the link between Operations Engineers and field operators in all routine activities and coordination and deputize the Operations Engineer during their absence. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Control Room Operator is responsible for conducting the following tasks:

 

  • Familiar with all the field equipment operations.
  • Remotely through the Terminal automation system operates product pumps of various sizes, valves, air compressors, firefighting and other safety equipment, fire water and foam systems, …etc.
  • Direct all operators in the field with necessary actions.
  • Checks and monitors ongoing processes and running equipment to ensure that operating variables (temperatures, pressures, product level, flow rates, etc.) are within the allowable limits.
  • Communicate with all personnel in case of emergencies and operational activities.
  • Deputize Operations Engineers during their absence.
  • Generate all control room logs and reports.
  • Always follow safe operating practices and procedures. Uphold a behavior/ attitude whereby safety is always taken into consideration.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, health and fire prevention rules and procedures defined and set out by the company.
  • Stop any activity within the terminal in violation of the company’s HSSE procedures and standards.
  • Being an active member of the Terminal Fire Fighting/ Emergency Response Team, the Operator must be familiar with the effective utilization of all fire-fighting and related equipment.
  • Respond to fire, oil spill and any emergency as per the Terminal Emergency Response Plan and as directed by the Incident Commander.
  • Regularly report near-misses, unsafe acts and conditions, and immediately report any incident or accident that may occur to the Shift Leader.
  • Participate in periodical mock emergency drills at the terminal.
  • Follow up on all matters relating to work to achieve the best performance possible.
  • Follow up on all matters related to his job to achieve the best performance.
  • Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience preferable in the petroleum industry.
  • Computer Literacy in MSOffice, Office 365, understands the functionality of an ERP system
