I am delighted to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Board of Directors of the Jordan Oil Terminals Company “JOTC” for their trust in appointing me as the General Manager of the company. I also extend my deepest thanks to the previous administrations for their diligent efforts and valuable contributions that have set JOTC on a path of excellence and success since its inception, leading to remarkable achievements during the recent period.
Recently, the world and our region have faced numerous challenges that have led to economic downturns. However, JOTC has managed to achieve significant growth in revenues and profits. This success is due to the hard work of our employees and our strong relationships with clients and partners.
JOTC is proud of its many accomplishments, notably the launch of a pioneering system to heat Heavy Fuel Oil using solar energy, aiming for zero emissions through adopting sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. Additionally, the successful commercial operation of the two photovoltaic energy generation projects in both the Amman Strategic Terminal for Petroleum Products “ASTPP” and Aqaba Oil Terminal “AOT” has contributed to reducing carbon emissions and lowering operational costs. Our achievements include the implementation and operation of a new pipeline system that enables the simultaneous loading and unloading of Liquefied Petroleum Gas “LPG”. To enhance safety standards, an automatic protection system (emergency valves and self-shutoff) was installed at the loading platforms at the AOT, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. Furthermore, the reserved capacity in the AOT has increased to over 90% following a contract with JoPetrol as a new client for the company.
It is worth noting that JOTC has started work on establishing a specialized laboratory for testing petroleum derivatives according to the highest standards in Aqaba, aimed at testing petroleum derivatives arriving in the Kingdom by ships, whether imported through Oil Marketing Companies “OMCs” or through investors in the petrochemical sector. The lab will also test derivatives for the government’s strategic stockpile and lubricants, with the possibility of testing natural gas. The lab will be managed and operated in the first phase by the global specialist company Bureau Veritas, under JOTC’s supervision, and will begin operating in the second quarter of 2025.
Operationally, the company continued to operate its facilities according to the best global practices in the oil and gas industry, adhering to the highest standards of safety, health, security, and the environment. These standards have been applied through the efforts of our qualified and trained staff working around the clock to meet the Kingdom’s needs for petroleum derivatives.
In 2024, JOTC has won the first place in both the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in the Private Sector for Small and Medium Service Enterprises and the Social Security Award for Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety. These awards are indicators of our achievement in reaching the highest institutional excellence standards, quality, occupational health and safety, customer satisfaction, and other international benchmarks.
Furthermore, this year, we renewed our ISO certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), identified all risks related to the company’s operations, and implemented controls to mitigate them.
In line with JOTC's central role in the energy sector, the company was commissioned by the government at the end of 2023 to take on the responsibilities required of the government’s natural gas company. The aim is to increase the contribution of natural gas to the overall energy mix, reduce energy costs for the national economy, create job opportunities, and develop local skills in the energy sector, in line with the vision for economic modernization.
