Instrument and Control Technician

JOB SUMMARY

The Instrument Technician is responsible for carrying out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of electronic and instrument-based equipment and process control and safety systems e.g., fire and gas, process control, and turbine operating systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION / Main Tasks & Duties

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The instrument Technician is responsible for conducting the following tasks:

Maintaining instrumentation systems, fire & gas & emergency shutdown field devices maintenance and problems troubleshooting.

Coordinate with the planning engineer regarding the preventive plan and purchase requests.

Perform preventive maintenance activities related to instrumentation as per the plan.

Follow up with operation teams on daily basis regarding their activities related to field instruments. 

Calibration & verification of field instruments & Gas field devices.

Specify department requirements from Spares, tools & consumables related to the instrumentation department.

Assist electrical team with control systems related to electrical equipment’s.

Ensure application of work is done in accordance with maintenance procedures. 

Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and effective manner and that all interventions are controlled by authorized persons, satisfy statutory and Company standards and that no hazardous incidents or events occur.

Handling routine maintenance and testing activities.

Complete fault-finding and repair of instrumentation / electronic systems and equipment.

Modifying, repairing, or replacing systems and equipment.

Installing new systems and equipment as required.

Participating in Risk Assessments as part of Integrated Safe System of Work Permit to Work preparation

Ordering spare parts and consumables as required on an ongoing basis.

Reporting any breaches of safety procedures to supervision/management.

Actively participating in and promoting company health and safety campaigns, policies, and procedures.

Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

Follow up on all matters relating to work to achieve the best performance possible.

Qualifications

 

Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field (advanced certificate is plus).

Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in oil & gas industry or similar industry (refining, or terminal experience is preferred).

Very good communication skills both written and verbal.
